Metric and American fabric sizes
In New Zealand, fabrics are measured and cut using the Metric system. In practical terms, a Metric Fat Quarter is about 1.5 inches wider then an American Fat Quarter and a metre is a about 3 inches wider then a yard. Check this chart for metric and American lengths:
